The Bitfilm Festival specialises in digital film and new media and will take place for the fourth time in a row this year. What is new, however, is that the Bitfilm Festival will be held in close cooperation with the Filmfestival Hamburg.
It promotes films that use digital technology creatively, ranging from 3D animated feature films to Flash movies on the internet to 30-second clips that work well even on the small displays of video capable mobile phones.

- Bitfilm received the record number of 716 entries from 51 countries this year
- All in all there will be 42 screenings at the Bitfilm Festival 2003: 30 programmes are part of the competition, 12 are international guest programmes
- Two more categories of the contest are only available on the internet or on video phones at the Bitfilm Lounge

The Bitfilm Festival is organised by Bitfilm GmbH. Established in 1999, Bitfilm operates at the borderline between film and digital networked media. The company distributes films that work well on the Internet and on interactive broadband services and develop and produce formats for TV, DVD, the Internet and mobile devices.
